Lind Babcock was on the faculty at Washtenaw Community College (WCC) when the The Health & Fitness Center first opened in September 2007. She joined because she thought it would be a good idea to get some exercise—and the location across the street was certainly convenient. Lind has maintained her membership ever since, although she must admit, she didn’t come regularly until she retired in 2012.
“Before joining (and retiring), I worked too many hours, didn’t get enough (or any, sometimes) exercise or sleep.
Joining the Center back in September, 2007 didn’t really have much of an effect on me at the time. I didn’t come hardly at all. I kept my membership, because I was hoping I would start working out. However, I’ve been coming regularly for the last 10 years, and have become more fit, energetic and enjoy the company of people I’ve gotten to know,” said Lind.
Lind credits the staff, fellow members and group exercise as key reasons on why she’s maintains her membership at The health & Fitness Center.
“I enjoy the staff and other people I’ve gotten to know over the years. And, I’m a group-exercise person. I’m not good at just exercising on my own—I just don’t enjoy it and have trouble getting myself to do it. But, I do enjoy interacting with others in exercise classes, and we have fun. I appreciate the different levels of classes offered. I’m a regular in Zumba® Gold and Total Body Basic, and try to never miss a class,” said Lind.
Lind took the Polar Bodyage Assessment recently and scored a body age 13 years younger than her calendar age! The Polar Bodyage® Assessment is a comprehensive analysis that will provide your “Body’s Age” verse your chronological age.
Areas tested include:
– Cardiovascular capacity test.
– Body composition analysis.
– Resting blood pressure and heart rate.
– Cholesterol and lipid profile (Optional).
– Strength and Flexibility tests (Optional).
“Being fit helps me have the energy to do things with and for others and myself.”
