Since February is American Heart Month®, we wanted to explore one of our favorite exercises for cardiovascular health—Cycling! Cycling has many benefits, including decreasing your risk for heart disease. Here are more benefits below:
Strengthen your lower body
Not only does cycling burn calories but it builds muscle – particularly around the glutes, hamstrings, quads, and calves.
Burn a high number of calories
Cycling helps promote weight loss by helping you burn between 400 and 1,000 calories an hour (depending on intensity and rider weight).
Low-impact workout
Since cycling involves fluid and controlled movements, there’s less strain on your muscles and joints. This makes this type of workout ideal for all fitness levels.
Boost your confidence and mood
As you get more experience working out not only will you feel better from endorphins, but you will sleep better, have improved coordination and you may even grow your social circle by meeting fellow cyclists. This can all contribute to your overall positive outlook and well-being.
