February is not just for sharing candy hearts but protecting one of our vital organs. American Heart Month®, is a time the nation turns its attention to keeping families and communities free from heart disease. Being active is a key step to toward good heart health. Here are some tips for heart-healthy exercise.
Aerobic Exercises
Strengthen your heart and blood vessels, improve the flow of oxygen throughout your body, reduce your risk for heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and some kinds of cancer. Try these aerobic exercises below courtesy of Hopkins medicine: and the American Heart Association:
Strength Training
Increase strength of bones, muscles and connective tissues (tendons and ligaments), lower your risk of injury and
increase muscle mass, which makes it easier for your body to burn calories and thus maintain a healthy weight. Try these strength exercises below courtesy of Hopkins medicine:
