On Saturday, June 2, the Health & Fitness Center hosted our Platform Tennis Tournament. Members of all ages and fitness levels were encouraged to participate and this year was one for the books. We had two participants with a 60-year difference between their ages. Isabella Rolina, 18 years old, and Bob Donnellan, 78 years old, both participated and did extraordinarily well in their matches. Isabella put up a valiant effort against her opponents and Bob actually won the tournament with his partner, Devvon.
1. All participants had a ton of fun
2. This was a diverse tournament, open for all ages
3. This tournament encouraged participation from all fitness levels.
Team building activities are crucial for a successful fitness center because it shows camaraderie amongst those that may have thought they would not have otherwise been able to compete. Having a competition puts wits and ability to the test without the stakes being too high. Plus, it’s fun for members to spread the word about the tournament and brag about their victories in a friendly matter. This tournament was a catalyst for networking, socializing, and having fun while being active.
Introducing tournaments like this one is important because we want our members to be excited about improving their overall health. Age should not be a restriction to participating in fun activities at the Center.
