Are you having trouble getting into that one yoga pose? Try the following suggestions to enhance your yoga practice and make each movement more accessible:
Make Props Your Best Friend
Blocks, straps, bolsters and other various yoga props can enrich your practice. These objects can help you maneuver in and out of a pose more comfortably instead of trying to push your body past its natural limitations.
When in Doubt, Bend Those Knees and Elbows
Bending your knees in a forward fold will allow you to hinge at the hips with a flat back; this is especially helpful if your hamstrings and low back are stiff. Bending your elbows, when a pose calls for extending the arms overhead, lessens pressure placed on the low back and shoulders.
The Wider the Better
Have you ever felt unstable in a yoga pose? The best way to increase your stability is by placing your feet wider apart. Apply this method to poses such as a plank or downward facing dog.
